Ashtanga Yoga for Beginners (4-week course) Embark on a transformative journey into the practice of Ashtanga Yoga with Michelle Papa. Ashtanga Yoga is a dynamic and structured form of yoga, which originated in Mysore India, that synchronises breath with a progressive series of postures, resulting in improved strength, flexibility, and mental clarity. This course is designed to introduce newcomers to the fundamental principles, techniques, and philosophy of Ashtanga Yoga in a supportive and nurturing environment. Course Outline: Introduction to Ashtanga Yoga: Explore the history, philosophy, and principles of Ashtanga Yoga method. Learn about the Eight Limbs of Yoga and how they guide the practice. Breath Awareness (Pranayama): Understand the importance of breath in yoga practice. Learn basic breathing techniques to cultivate awareness and enhance the flow of energy. Sun Salutations (Surya Namaskara): Master the foundational sequence of Sun Salutations A and B. Focus on proper alignment, breath synchronisation, and mindful movement. Primary Series (Yoga Chikitsa): Begin to explore the Primary Series sequence, which consists of a set sequence of postures designed to purify the body and calm the mind. Break down each posture with detailed instruction and modifications as needed. Standing Poses: Dive deeper into the standing postures of the Primary Series. Develop strength, stability, and balance while refining alignment and breath control. Seated Poses: Progress into the seated postures of the Primary Series. Cultivate flexibility, concentration, and inner awareness as you explore a range of seated poses. Finishing Sequence: Learn the final sequence of postures that conclude the Ashtanga Yoga practice. Then ease into relaxation, restoration, and integration of body, breath, and mind. Meditation and Relaxation: Experience the transformative power of meditation and relaxation techniques. Cultivate inner stillness, clarity, and peace through guided meditation and deep relaxation practices. Course Objectives: Develop a solid foundation in the principles and techniques of Ashtanga Yoga. Increase strength, flexibility, and overall physical well-being. Cultivate mindfulness, concentration, and self-awareness. Reduce stress, anxiety, and tension through the practice of yoga and meditation. Establish a regular yoga practice that supports health and vitality. Prerequisites: No prior experience in yoga experience is required.
